This weigela cultivar is a compact, densely-rounded deciduous shrub which typically grows 2-2.5' tall with a slightly larger spread. It is primarily grown for its compact size (one of the smallest of the weigelas), profuse spring flowers and purplish foliage. Red, funnel-shaped flowers with yellow throats appear singly or in clusters along the branches of the previous year's growth in mid to late spring, with sparse and scattered repeat bloom often occurring on new growth as the summer progresses. Hummingbirds are attracted to the flowers.
Garden Uses: Mass or group. Shrub borders. Also effective as a low hedge.
